What On Earth?
Collective performance
The series of performative actions approached soil, exploring its communicative and aesthetic qualities. These opened a nonverbal dialogical space, a space of personal, intimate encounter at the sensory level within a group. The transmission of soil became communication as an aesthetic form.
Reflecting on soil, one comes upon contradictions - dirt and yet a valued resource - as well as a wide range of associations: home, territory, property, land and borders were themes that arose, making it necessary to stay attuned to changing meanings within each context.
Artists: Rosie Benn, Johanna Folkmann with concept development from Marius Fischer and Gregor Glovanovitz. Performance collaborator Alastair Maclennan and public.
