Rosie Benn is a transdisciplinary artist and researcher based in Vienna. Inspired by dialogical aesthetics and critical queering of ecologies, her practice explores environmental discourses through non-linear narratives. Strain and contradictions can embrace and transform within trials of regenerative approaches to failure, applying the technique of collage to various mediums be it drawing, performance, video or situational works.
Could a new road or climate change be an invasive species? How do you welcome an alien? And what if we were cats, that is, Catastrophic Animals on Terra? Such odd questions are breeding grounds for the collective and solitary explorations of possible cosmologies and kinships. For Rosie, art is a process with which epistemologies can be poetically and holistically engaged. In which mess can make space for complex meanings and absurd truths.
